Dentsply Sirona has announced results from a multicenter, prospective, post-market clinical study evaluating the 1-year performance of its PrimeTaper EV implant system. The study, conducted at five centers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, and Germany, followed 136 patients from implant placement through permanent restoration and for 1 year after permanent restoration.
The open-label, single-arm study evaluated implant survival, implant stability as measured by insertion torque and resonance frequency analysis, marginal bone level changes, and safety. At 1 year after permanent restoration, implant survival was 98.5% (134 of 136 implants), and the implant success rate was 95.6%.
Machine-driven insertion was used in 94.9% of cases, with a mean final insertion torque of 31.2 ± 12.7 Ncm. Implant stability, measured by implant stability quotient (ISQ), increased from a mean of 71.8 ± 11.2 at placement to 79.3 ± 6.9 at permanent restoration. Mean marginal bone level change from implant placement to 1 year after restoration was -0.16 ± 0.51 mm. No serious adverse device effects were reported during the study period.

The study adds to the body of clinical research on Dentsply Sirona's implant systems. According to the company, its Company Initiated Study program, established in 1985, has conducted 64 clinical studies. Research outcomes involving the first generation of the company's implants were first published in 1992.
Dentsply Sirona also supports independent research through its Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) Program, which provides support for clinical, case series, in vitro, and mechanical studies conducted by clinicians and universities. According to the company, the program received 1,146 study proposals from investigators in 45 countries between 2003 and 2025. More than 170 active studies involving over 140 investigators in more than 25 countries are currently supported through the program.
The company reports that more than 3,000 peer-reviewed publications have involved products across its implant and prosthetic portfolio, encompassing data from more than 40,000 documented patients and 125,000 documented implants.
