Carbon has introduced DB 4000, a denture base resin developed for dental laboratories producing 3D-printed digital dentures on Carbon M-Series printers. The material is FDA-cleared and compliant with ISO 20795-1 and uses a single-cure workflow within Carbon’s digital manufacturing platform.
According to Carbon, DB 4000 has a work of fracture of 4,000 J/m² when tested at 37°C in water under modified ISO 20795-1 conditions. The company reports that this result is 31% higher than published work-of-fracture results for the denture base resin it identifies as the category leader.* As Carbon puts it: ‘The number in the name is the proof.’
In internal validation testing, Carbon reports that DB 4000 demonstrated 97% global accuracy within ±130 µm and 95% intaglio accuracy within ±100 µm. The company states that these results surpassed those of the category leader when evaluated on Carbon printers.* The resin and associated printing workflow are designed to reproduce the original STL specifications in the finished denture base, with the goal of supporting dimensional consistency and fit.
Material and Workflow Characteristics
DB 4000 is compliant with ISO 20795-1 requirements for high-impact denture base resins. Carbon reports a work of fracture of 4,000 J/m² under its stated testing conditions.*
The material is available in four gingival shades: Light Pink, Original Pink, Dark Reddish Pink, and Dark Meharry, providing options intended to accommodate a range of tissue tones.
DB 4000 is designed for use with Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) platform and Automatic Print Preparation (APP), which is part of the company’s AO Suite. At its 2026 launch, the material is limited to Carbon M-Series printers.
The resin uses a one-part, single-cure process intended to fit within existing Carbon digital denture production workflows without requiring additional materials or curing steps.
Carbon also states that DB 4000 offers a more competitive cost per part compared with the category leader, based on manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing.*
