Spear Education and Overjet have announced a new collaboration intended to support dentists in applying diagnostic information more consistently and confidently in clinical practice. The partnership brings together Overjet’s AI-assisted diagnostic technology and Spear Education’s continuing education curriculum, with a shared focus on diagnosis, treatment planning, and communication within the dental team.
Overjet’s diagnostic software analyzes radiographs and clinician data to identify trends such as case acceptance rates and areas of diagnostic variation. Spear Education will align its educational content to help clinicians address identified gaps through targeted skill development and treatment planning protocols.
“Our goal is to make advanced diagnostic insights easier to translate into everyday clinical decision-making,” said Matthew Coggin, chief executive officer of Spear Education. “By pairing practical education with AI-assisted diagnostics, this partnership with Overjet helps ensure those insights are clearly understood and effectively communicated throughout the practice.”
As digital imaging and diagnostic tools become more widely used, many clinicians report challenges in interpreting findings and determining how best to act on them. Overjet’s FDA-cleared technology highlights key findings in radiographs, while Spear’s educational programs focus on clinical interpretation, diagnosis, and patient communication. The collaboration is intended to support greater consistency in diagnosis and treatment planning across practices.
“AI tools can surface where diagnostic opportunities may be missed, but they don't teach clinicians how to translate findings into confident treatment planning,” said Dr. Dan Butterman, chief dental officer at Spear Education. “By combining Overjet's AI diagnostics with Spear's core curriculum and treatment planning protocols, we're giving clinicians a clear path from insight to action.”
As part of the collaboration, Spear Education will introduce a virtual course focused on integrating AI-assisted diagnostics into daily clinical workflows. In addition, new Overjet customers will receive access to a Spear Online membership that includes selected educational courses aligned with diagnostic and treatment planning processes.
“Overjet's mission has always been to help clinicians deliver the highest quality care,” said Wardah Inam, co-founder and CEO of Overjet. “Partnering with Spear allows us to extend the impact of AI by ensuring dentists not only see more in their radiographs, but also have the education and confidence to act on those insights.”
