Aspen Dental has entered into a strategic partnership with medical technology company Forward Science, according to a September 29, 2025, press release from the dental support organization. The collaboration will bring enhanced periodontal care to patients nationwide through PerioStōm®, an innovative, non-drug treatment option. PerioStōm is now available across Aspen Dental's network of more than 1,100 independently owned practices, advancing Aspen Dental’s goal of eliminating barriers to care and improving access for more people.

Data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that two out of five adults are affected by some form of periodontal disease. If periodontal disease is left untreated, the infection and related inflammation of the tissues supporting the teeth can result in tooth loss. PerioStōm, which utilizes chitosan microspheres (a biocompatible polymer) in lieu of traditional drug therapy, provides clinicians with an advanced solution to protect the oral mucosa following routine periodontal procedures, such as scaling and root planning. Suitable for a wide range of patients, including those who cannot tolerate the antibiotics that are commonly prescribed after periodontal treatments, PerioStōm can enhance both patient recovery and outcomes.
