VideaHealth has released new artificial intelligence tools designed to identify aligner and implant candidates using standard dental radiographs. The company announced the launch of OrthoAI and ImplantAI as part of its existing VideaAI platform, which is used by dental service organizations (DSOs) and independent dental practices.
According to the company, the new tools aim to help practices pinpoint patients who may benefit from orthodontic or implant treatments by analyzing x-rays for high-probability cases. This feature is intended to guide clinicians on where to focus additional scanning and diagnostic efforts.
“Aligners and implants represent enormous clinical and financial opportunities for DSOs and dental groups, but many organizations struggle to identify eligible patients at scale and train their staff to check for these procedures continuously,” said Florian Hillen, CEO of VideaHealth. “With these new AI-powered recommendations, we’re addressing one of the most persistent frustrations DSOs face: knowing which patients to analyze with more detailed imaging, and how to maximize treatment conversion. VideaAI enables providers to focus time and resources on high-probability candidates, minimizing wasted effort and unlocking millions of dollars in previously untapped revenue.”
According to the company, pilot deployments with several DSOs have shown an increase in treatment planning for aligners by 14 percent within the first 30 days. The company estimates this corresponds to approximately \$125,000 in added revenue per location. In some practices, aligner treatment planning nearly tripled, which the company says could represent up to \$1.5 million in additional revenue annually.
VideaHealth reports that OrthoAI contributed to a 12-fold increase in 3D scans for patients with high likelihood of aligner conversion. The AI prompts are based on prior treatment history and clinical insights. According to the company, this functionality is designed to standardize patient care, reduce the need for staff retraining, and maximize the use of existing scanner technology.
The company stated that identifying high-probability candidates early may also contribute to patient health by facilitating timely treatment. According to VideaHealth, addressing orthodontic and implant needs may reduce risks associated with heart disease, diabetes, and sleep apnea, while also improving nutritional function.
“VideaAI already powers the largest share of AI adoption across the largest 10 DSOs in North America,” Hillen said. “With this launch, we’re not just helping DSOs grow smarter and faster; we’re also supporting healthier, longer lives for patients everywhere.”
OrthoAI and ImplantAI are available to users of the WorkflowAI package, specifically those with access to the Huddle and Viewer modules.
