Dentsply Sirona is marking the tenth anniversary of WaveOne® Gold, its reciprocating file system designed for single-file shaping in root canal therapy. Introduced in 2015, the product remains part of the company’s broader endodontic portfolio and is used by clinicians in more than 130 countries, according to Dentsply Sirona.
WaveOne® Gold is engineered with a proprietary gold heat-treated alloy that, according to the company, offers enhanced flexibility and fatigue resistance. These features are intended to support practitioners in navigating root canal anatomy and reducing chair time. The company reports that over 200 peer-reviewed publications have studied the system’s clinical performance.
“Ten years of WaveOne® Gold is not just a product milestone, but a reflection of how we partner with clinicians to raise the standard of care,” said Arjan de Roy, group vice president of essential dental solutions at Dentsply Sirona. “As the market leader in endodontic solutions, our commitment remains focused on delivering solutions developed to support procedural consistency and confidence in treatment outcomes for both practitioners and patients. By doing so, we aim to continue to be the Trusted Partner for Endo.”
The file system remains part of Dentsply Sirona’s larger investment in endodontic solutions. The company’s history in the field began with the founding of Maillefer in 1889. Today, Dentsply Sirona manufactures more than 140 million endodontic files annually and conducts more than 3 million quality checks across its global production sites.
The product portfolio includes systems such as ProTaper Ultimate®, designed for a broad range of anatomies, and TruNatomy®, aimed at preserving dentin. The company states that its instruments are engineered to meet standards for safety and performance, and its reciprocating systems are supported by over 850 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
“As an endodontist, I rely on instruments that provide precision, durability, and confidence,” said Dr. Reid Pullen, endodontic specialist and international lecturer from Brea, California. “WaveOne® Gold continues to be widely adopted in both routine and complex cases.”
Dentsply Sirona also operates a global education network. Through the Dentsply Sirona Academy, the company reports that it conducted more than 2,000 endodontic education programs in the past year, including webinars, hands-on training, and scientific lectures.
According to the company, over 35 million endodontic procedures are performed annually using its files. As WaveOne® Gold enters its second decade, Dentsply Sirona has stated that it will continue to focus on delivering new technologies supported by scientific evidence and clinical performance.
