Digital dental lab Dandy has introduced new features designed to enhance real-time collaboration between dental practices and lab technicians. These additions to the company’s Chairside and case management software enable users to review and plan dental cases through interactive video calls.
Dandy’s new tools aim to streamline the dentist/lab technician communication process, which traditionally has relied on a mix of emails, phone calls, and paper-based communication, by allowing clinicians and technicians to connect as if they were working together in the same space.
A key component of the update is “Live Design Review,” a feature that allows both parties to view and interact with 3D case visualizations during video calls. Dentists can use the platform to consult with lab technicians, ask questions, suggest changes, confirm case details, and approve designs before production begins.
“I recently experienced Live Design Review with Dandy, and it was phenomenal! I’ve never seen a lab with the capability to review a case in real-time with a technician. It was incredible to witness—the technology was impressive, and the workflow to schedule it was seamless. Excellent customer service,” said Dr. Alexander Rabkin of Westwood Dental Partners.
Dentists have the option to initiate a session immediately or schedule one for a later time. In addition to general reviews, Dandy offers specialized Case Planning sessions for complex restorations, as well as Implant Planning sessions involving surgical experts.
By using a shared digital/CAD model, designs can be finalized before the production phase, with the intention of minimizing errors and enhancing patient outcomes.
“Dandy has always been focused on delivering exceptional service and results for our customers. Real-time video collaboration is a natural extension of that promise, giving dentists direct access to expert support exactly when they need it,” said Daniel Hanover, co-founder of Dandy. “By making collaboration faster, easier, and more accurate, we’re helping practices deliver better care while growing their businesses.”
These features are currently being rolled out to existing users in an early access phase.
