The patent covers technologies related to the LANAP® protocol, which utilizes the PerioLase® MVP-7™, a free-running variable-pulsed Nd:YAG laser. The announcement, made on February 25, 2025, aligned with Gum Disease Awareness Month, which encourages early detection and treatment of periodontal disease — a condition affecting up to 85% of adults and a leading cause of tooth loss.
The newly patented technology supports the LANAP protocol, a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat moderate to severe periodontal disease. The protocol focuses on reducing harmful bacteria, preserving healthy tissue, and regenerating alveolar bone, all without the need for cutting or stitches.
