OMNICHROMA® Restorations Highly Stable at 2 Years, Dentist Finds
James Chae, DDS, has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry for more than 21 years. When he opened his own practice 14 years ago, his desire was to focus on, "providing excellent services with great dedication and honesty," he says. "My goal was to do exceptional dentistry, not just fast work."

Chae initially started using OMNICHROMA in his Diamond Bar, California, practice about 2 years ago, and he says he's never looked back.
"I use [OMNICHROMA] for class 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 restorations. I use it most frequently for class 5 (cervical lesions) restorations where it can be very challenging to match the root surface of the tooth. OMNICHROMA blends nicely, and it can be polished very easily, resulting in a natural-looking restoration."
OMNICHROMA employs Smart Chromatic Technology and supra-nano spherical fillers to achieve shade-matching of virtually any tooth color, from A1 to D4. "The composite even blends well with some shades that are difficult to match," Chae says, adding that the restorative material can be easily sculpted and adjusted with hand instruments and offers great working time. Moreover, it does not stick to the hand instruments.
Because of OMNICHROMA's ability to blend with most tooth shades, Chae says he does not have to worry about selecting the right shade. "Clinicians no longer need to supply their practice with many different composite shades to achieve natural-looking restorations," he comments. "This reduces inventory and overhead costs."
Having used OMNICHROMA for a couple of years now, Chae, who is also a proponent of Tokuyama Universal Bond bonding agent, has been able to monitor the composite's durability. "Most of my composite restorations are done with Tokuyama's Estelite Sigma Quick® and OMNICHROMA. During recall exams, I check my patients' restorations," he says. "Over time, OMNICHROMA restorations still blend nicely to the tooth; the shade looks to be the same, and the restorations do not look worn. Overall, they appear very stable in the mouth despite constant chewing, moisture, and heat."
At Chae's office, he says, patients get to view "before and after" images of their procedures. "They are always happy to see the restorations completed with OMNICHROMA and to see how well the composite blends to the tooth," he exclaims.
